Settlement Timelines: How Long to Receive International Payments in Your Indian Bank (2026)

Settlement speed determines your cash flow. For Indian businesses receiving international payments, the difference between daily settlement (Playto Pay) and 5-day settlement (PayPal) is meaningful — especially for businesses managing multiple client invoices simultaneously.

This guide covers the exact settlement timeline for every major international payment platform used by Indian businesses in 2026.

Settlement Timeline Comparison

What "T+0" and "T+1" Mean

T: Transaction date (day your client pays)

T+0: Money in your Indian bank same day

T+1: Money in your Indian bank next business day

T+2: Money in your Indian bank 2 business days after transaction

Note: Settlement cutoff times apply. Transactions processed after a platform's daily cutoff settle the following business day.

How Settlement Works for Each Platform

Playto Pay (Daily INR Direct)

Transactions processed before the daily settlement cutoff settle to your Indian bank account in INR the next business day. FIRA auto-generated at time of settlement. Zero forex markup applied at mid-market rate.

For most Indian businesses, this means: a US client pays on Monday → INR in your Indian bank Tuesday morning.

Skydo (24-48 Hours)

Wire received at Skydo USD/GBP/EUR VBA converts to INR and settles to Indian bank within 24-48 hours. Auto-FIRA generated at settlement.

Razorpay / Cashfree International (T+1 to T+2)

Standard Indian PG settlement timelines. T+1 for Cashfree, T+1 to T+2 for Razorpay International. FIRA in dashboard.

Wise (Manual Conversion Required)

Wise doesn't auto-convert to INR. Money sits in your Wise USD/GBP/EUR balance until you initiate a conversion. After conversion initiation, INR reaches Indian bank in 1-2 days. Total effective timeline: T+2 to T+4 depending on when you convert.

For businesses wanting daily INR: manually convert and initiate Wise transfer daily (operationally heavy). Or just use Playto Pay.

PayPal (3-5 Days After Withdrawal)

PayPal processes the payment, holds it in your PayPal balance, then you manually initiate a withdrawal to your Indian bank. Withdrawal takes 3-5 business days. Total T+5 to T+7 from transaction to INR in Indian bank.

At $20,000 monthly volume with 5-day settlement: you have ~$20,000 × (5/30) = ~$3,333 perpetually in transit. That's working capital not in your bank.

Stripe via US LLC (T+3 to T+4 to India)

Stripe settles to your US LLC bank (Mercury/Brex) in 2 days. You then transfer from Mercury to India via Wise (~1-2 more days). Total: 3-4 business days from transaction to INR in Indian bank. More if you batch transfers weekly.

Traditional SWIFT (3-7 Days)

SWIFT wires take 3-5 business days in transit through correspondent banks. Indian bank processes inward wire in 1-2 more days. Total 3-7 business days, sometimes longer if correspondent bank holds the wire.

Cash Flow Impact of Settlement Speed

At $30,000 monthly international revenue:

PlatformDays FloatWorking Capital Locked Up
Playto Pay1 day~$1,000
Skydo2 days~$2,000
Razorpay International2 days~$2,000
Stripe via LLC4 days~$4,000
PayPal6 days~$6,000
Traditional SWIFT5 days~$5,000

Playto Pay locks up ~$5,000 less in working capital than PayPal. For a business running tight cash flow, this is meaningful.

When Settlement Speed Matters Most

High-growth businesses: Scaling 10x means your float scales 10x with the same settlement delay. Playto Pay's daily settlement keeps float proportionally small.

Businesses with high operational costs: If you're paying team salaries or operational costs daily/weekly, slow settlement creates cash gaps.

High-volume low-ticket businesses: Thousands of small transactions mean lots of float with slow-settling platforms.

Businesses managing multiple client invoices: Daily settlement means yesterday's client payment is available for today's operational needs.

FAQ

How long does it take for international payments to reach an Indian bank account? Depends on platform. Playto Pay: 1 business day. Skydo: 24-48 hours. Razorpay International: 1-2 days. Wise: 2-4 days (after manual conversion). PayPal: 3-5 days after withdrawal. SWIFT: 3-7 days.

What is T+1 settlement in payment processing? T+1 means funds settle to your bank account 1 business day after the transaction date. Playto Pay's daily settlement means most transactions are T+0 or T+1. Payments that miss the daily cutoff settle the next business day.

Does PayPal settle to Indian bank accounts faster in 2026? PayPal has improved its India payout process post-RBI PA-CB in-principle approval (May 2025), but the fundamental settlement timeline remains 3-5 business days after you initiate withdrawal from PayPal balance to Indian bank.

Can I get same-day settlement for international payments in India? Playto Pay provides next-business-day settlement (daily), which is effectively same-day for business purposes. True same-day settlement for international cards isn't available in the Indian market in 2026.

Does settlement speed affect my FIRA documentation? FIRA is generated at time of settlement. Platforms with auto-FIRA (Playto Pay, Skydo) generate it automatically. With PayPal or Wise, you initiate the settlement and need to request FIRC separately.
