Identify a Charge

Do you recognize this Playto charge?

If you see Playto or an unfamiliar description on a card, bank or wallet statement, we can help investigate which transaction it relates to. Statement wording can vary by payment method and processing arrangement.

First checks

A payment description should not be a mystery.

Before reporting a charge as unauthorized, a few quick checks can often explain it. If you still do not recognize the payment, contact Playto and your bank where appropriate.

01 · Receipt

Check your email

Look for a Playto receipt, invoice or payment confirmation around the transaction date. Search the amount as well as “Playto”.

02 · Team

Ask authorized users

Check whether a colleague, finance team member or another authorized person paid for a project, deposit, retainer or recurring professional Service.

03 · Timing

Compare the dates carefully

The posting date can differ from the day a payment was initiated. A pending authorization can also appear differently from a completed charge.

What to send us

Give us enough to find the payment, but not more than we need.

Email support@playto.so with the details below. You do not need to send every item if you do not have it. Playto may verify your relationship to the payment before disclosing transaction details.

01DateThe payment date or approximate date.
02Amount and currencyFor example, USD 2,500.
03Statement descriptionCopy it exactly as it appears.
04ReferencePayment, invoice or receipt reference if you have one.
05Transaction emailThe email address used for the purchase, if known.
06Last four onlyThe last four digits of the card or account where relevant. Never the full number.
A redacted screenshot can help. Remove unrelated transactions, balances and account information before sending it. If more sensitive evidence is genuinely necessary, ask Playto for an appropriate submission route first.
After we locate it

We will tell you enough to understand the transaction without exposing someone else’s information.

Where the requester is entitled to the information, Playto can generally help confirm whether the charge is associated with Playto, the relevant transaction or invoice reference, the professional Service or business context needed to recognize it, whether the payment appears one-time or recurring, and the available support route.

If Playto cannot match the entry to its records, we will say that rather than guessing which other merchant or payment service created the charge.

Where privacy, security or another legal restriction prevents disclosure of full transaction details, Playto may provide a more limited confirmation or ask for additional verification.

Statement descriptors

The wording can vary without changing who sold the Service.

A statement entry can depend on the card, bank, wallet, processor and technical payment configuration. It may identify Playto, an approved transaction or business descriptor, a Payment Provider, or a permitted combination.

Descriptor is not the contract

The text shown on a payment statement is routing and recognition information. For an applicable Playto Merchant of Record transaction, the Buyer-side seller remains the party identified in the Buyer Terms, Service Order, invoice and receipt.

We will verify the match

Playto will check whether the statement entry is associated with its records rather than assuming every similar-looking description belongs to Playto.

If it is a Playto purchase

You can come directly to Playto about the transaction.

For an applicable Playto Merchant of Record transaction, the Buyer purchases the professional Service from Playto. If you identify the charge but have a question about delivery, scope, cancellation, refund or recurring billing, you can contact Playto directly.

Playto may review the Service Order, transaction record, delivery evidence, communications and other information relevant to the issue. The Service Partner may perform the underlying work and provide supporting evidence, but the Buyer does not need to locate or pay the Service Partner separately before asking Playto for transaction support.

Duplicate-looking charges

Two statement entries do not always mean two completed payments.

If you think you were charged twice, send both amounts, dates and references. Playto can compare the available transaction records.

A pending authorization can sometimes appear alongside the completed transaction and later disappear or reverse. In other cases, two separate completed transactions may genuinely exist.

Avoid submitting another payment while an earlier attempt remains uncertain. Your bank or card issuer can also explain how pending and completed entries appear on its statement.

Do not rely on the statement label alone. A refund, reversal, authorization and completed charge can display differently across banks. The underlying transaction status matters more than the label your banking app uses.
Recurring charges

If the charge relates to a subscription or retainer, check the cancellation record.

Find the cancellation confirmation or the message showing when you attempted to cancel. Send Playto the recurring-payment or transaction reference and the date on which you requested cancellation.

Stopping future billing and requesting a refund of an earlier charge are separate actions. The applicable Service Order, Recurring Payment Terms, Refund & Cancellation Policy and mandatory rights determine each request.

If you believed recurring billing had already stopped, say that clearly so Playto can review the authorization and cancellation history.

Potentially unauthorized

If you believe the payment was unauthorized, protect the payment account now.

Contact your bank, card issuer or wallet provider promptly using its official contact route. Ask about securing the account and the process for disputing an unauthorized transaction.

Contact Playto as well so we can investigate the transaction record. You do not need to wait for Playto's response before contacting your financial institution, and opening a Playto support case does not extend a bank or card-network dispute deadline.

Do not withdraw or close a bank or card dispute solely because an unexpected caller, message or email claiming to represent Playto asks you to. Verify any such request through support@playto.so and your financial institution's official channel.

Never share an OTP to receive a refund. Playto support does not need your password, card security code or one-time authentication code to identify an ordinary payment.
Possible scam or impersonation

Use the contact details published by Playto, not the suspicious message.

If a message claiming to be from Playto asks you to reveal a one-time code, password or card security code, or asks you to pay an unrelated account in order to “release” a refund, do not comply.

Secure any affected email or payment account and contact your financial institution if payment credentials may have been exposed.

Forward or describe the suspicious communication to support@playto.so after removing unrelated sensitive information. Use the address published on Playto's website rather than replying to the suspicious message.

Privacy when identifying a charge

Knowing an amount is not automatically enough to disclose a transaction.

A charge investigation can involve information about a Buyer, business, professional Service or Service Partner. Playto may verify the requester's relationship to the payment before disclosing details.

Where full transaction information cannot appropriately be disclosed, Playto may still confirm limited information or explain what evidence is needed to continue the investigation, subject to applicable privacy and legal requirements.

This protects legitimate Buyers without turning a statement descriptor into a way to obtain another person's transaction information.

A requester acting for a company may be asked to verify an authorized business email, transaction reference or other proportionate evidence of authority. Playto should not require excessive identity documents merely to answer an ordinary charge-identification question.

If the charge is not ours

A failed lookup does not mean the charge is legitimate.

If Playto cannot identify the transaction, compare the exact descriptor with your bank’s merchant information and recent purchases. Your financial institution may have additional merchant or acquiring information that is not visible to Playto.

If the payment is still unfamiliar or appears unauthorized, use your bank, card issuer or wallet provider’s official fraud or dispute process. Playto cannot identify or refund a transaction that was not processed through Playto.

Keep the reference

Keep the records that connect the investigation to the outcome.

Retain the original statement entry, receipt, Playto correspondence and any bank or payment-provider dispute reference. They can help distinguish an authorization, completed payment, refund, reversal or external dispute.

Still do not recognize the charge?

Email support@playto.so with the date, amount, currency and exact statement description. Include only the last four digits of the card or account if they are relevant.
