For consultants

Turn expertise into a client transaction that is clear before anyone pays.

Structure strategy projects, workshops, advisory milestones and recurring retainers with a Service Order, Buyer checkout, delivery record and supplier payout that stay connected.

Before payment

The advisory work may be intangible. The commercial scope should not be.

Consulting is easier to buy when the client can see what the engagement includes before paying, even when the value is a decision, recommendation, workshop or ongoing access to expertise.

Consulting engagement models

Match the payment structure to the way you create value.

Playto can support common professional-service transaction structures where they are enabled for the account and recorded in the accepted Service Order.

01

Strategy sprint or workshop

Use a defined project amount for a diagnostic, workshop, assessment, planning session or decision-focused engagement.

Contained advisory work
02

Milestone-based project

Split a larger transformation or strategy project into funded phases such as diagnostic, recommendation and implementation support.

Multi-stage consulting
03

Recurring advisory retainer

Define the recurring amount, service period, cadence and cancellation terms before the client authorizes ongoing payment.

Ongoing advisory
04

Fractional engagement

Structure ongoing specialist or executive support without implying employment or promising a particular business result.

Trust at payment time

The client is buying expertise before they can see the final result.

Proposal, contract and client-portal tools can stay in the consulting stack. Playto should stay focused on making the payment transaction itself carry the advisory scope and verified trust context that matter at the moment of purchase.

1Connect the payment to the agreed advisory scope and project phase.
2Show the approved identity of the consultant or consulting business performing the Service.
3Show buyer-facing Trust Score and payment-backed review context where available.
4Keep a direct Playto transaction-support route after payment.
Make advisory delivery inspectable

Define the output even when the value is a decision, recommendation or access to expertise.

The Service Order does not need to turn advice into a commodity. It does need to give the client and consultant a shared reference for what the engagement includes.

Workshop

Define the session and expected output.

Record the workshop purpose, participants, timing and any memo, synthesis or action plan included in the Service.

Diagnostic

Describe the assessment being delivered.

Define the inputs, review scope and expected diagnostic output without promising a specific commercial outcome.

Recommendation

Name the advisory artifact or decision event.

A strategy deck, decision memo, operating plan or recommendation review can be a concrete delivery event.

Implementation advisory

Separate advice from execution scope.

Where the engagement includes implementation support, identify the advisory period, responsibilities and expected cadence.

Recurring advisory

A retainer should define what repeats, not just repeat the charge.

Recurring billing by itself is not enough for an advisory relationship. Playto's service-specific requirement is that the recurring payment should still explain the recurring professional Service.

Additional workshops, implementation projects or materially expanded scope should not be silently treated as part of the original recurring authorization.

Scope changes

When the advisory relationship expands, the payment authorization should not become ambiguous.

Consulting engagements often evolve. The transaction should evolve clearly with them.

New workshop

Add a new funded Service when the engagement expands.

A new workshop, offsite or diagnostic can be treated as distinct approved scope instead of silently inheriting an unrelated payment authorization.

Implementation project

Separate advisory from a larger execution phase.

If recommendations turn into implementation support, record the expanded responsibilities, amount and delivery expectations.

Retainer expansion

Update recurring scope before charging for materially more work.

A recurring relationship should not become an open-ended mandate for any future service the consultant might perform.

Stakeholder expansion

Record material changes to sessions or decision process.

Where more teams, sessions or deliverables materially change the engagement, reflect that change in the commercial record.

Not another consulting CRM

Keep your proposal, CRM and collaboration tools. Strengthen the transaction layer.

CRM, proposals, contracts, scheduling, files and client portals can stay in the systems you already use. Generic billing can stay separate too.

Playto should stay focused on the commercial transaction itself: what the client bought, how they paid, what was delivered, what happened if there was an issue, and how the consultant was paid.

Product boundary: Playto does not need to replace your CRM, document suite, workshop tools or project-management system to make the service transaction substantially clearer.
International consulting clients

Make an international advisory payment feel like a normal business transaction.

Global collection is only one part of the problem. Playto's opportunity is to keep the Buyer payment attached to the specific consulting engagement and Service record.

Payment methods

Give the Buyer an available route that fits.

Supported cards, wallets, bank and wire transfers, and local methods can be surfaced where they are enabled for the transaction.

Currency

Make the agreed amount explicit.

The accepted transaction should clearly identify the Buyer-facing amount and currency before payment.

Payout

Track consultant settlement separately.

The Buyer payment and the consultant payout are separate events with their own status and applicable route.

Consulting use cases

Useful across approved advisory engagements.

Strategy

Strategy and growth consultants

Diagnostics, market strategy, operating plans and implementation advisory.

Operations

Operations and transformation consultants

Process design, operating-model work, transformation programs and implementation support.

Product

Product and technology consultants

Product strategy, technical advisory, implementation planning and specialist guidance.

Fractional

Fractional operators

Approved recurring professional-service engagements for ongoing executive or specialist support.

Professional advice does not guarantee a business outcome. The Service Order can define scope, deliverables and acceptance, but Playto should not present consulting recommendations as guaranteed to produce revenue, savings, investment returns, regulatory approval or another specific result. Regulated advisory activities may also require separate eligibility review.
Common questions

The consulting payment questions that come up first.

Can I collect an advance before the engagement starts?

A Service Order can include an advance where the approved account setup supports it. The transaction should state what the advance covers and the applicable release conditions.

Can I bill a consulting project by milestone?

Yes. Separately priced and funded phases can be described in the Service Order and tracked against their own delivery event and review period.

Can I run a recurring advisory retainer?

Recurring payments can support ongoing advisory services where the account and payment method are enabled and the Buyer authorizes the recurring amount, frequency and cancellation terms.

Can I add extra project work to an existing retainer automatically?

Not merely because a recurring authorization exists. Materially additional services should follow the agreed scope and applicable Buyer authorization.

Who does the client actually pay?

Under the current Buyer Terms, the Buyer purchases the applicable professional Service from Playto as Merchant of Record and authorized reseller.

Does Playto guarantee the consulting outcome?

No. Playto can administer the transaction and preserve the commercial record, but it does not guarantee that advice or recommendations will produce a particular business, financial, regulatory or operational result.
